The story of VHC Art Gallery | Vida Heydari Contemporary
VHC Art Gallery, or Vida Heydari Contemporary, is one of Pune’s contemporary art spaces, and the clearest thing to notice is that it sits in Koregaon Park, at Marvel Alaina, Lane 8. Britannica? no. The gallery’s own site lists it at that address, with contact details and hours for Monday through Saturday, while Sunday is closed.
The gallery is an international art gallery in Pune specialising in contemporary art and representing established and emerging artists across different backgrounds, mediums and genres. Art Mumbai says it was founded in 2020 and that it shows diverse contemporary artists through museum-quality exhibitions, art fairs, and cultural programs. Femina says Vida Heydari, originally from Iran, launched the gallery in Pune after falling in love with the city, and calls her an Iranian-Canadian art curator and gallerist.
A press feature on the gallery described the launch as a 3,000 sq ft venue, and said the inaugural show was Origins of a Perennial Bouquet, curated by Bose Krishnamachari. That same feature named five artists in the show: Benitha Perciyal, Manish Nai, Sudarshan Shetty, Sumedh Rajendran and Tanya Goel.
If you’re visiting, the practical thing to keep in mind is the opening pattern: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM on weekdays and Saturday. The website is vhc.art.
